Vinexpo Shanghai kicks off today as virtual event

The second Vinexpo Shanghai exhibition which kicks off today has been transformed into a 100% digital event.
Taking place over the next three days, the current pandemic has made it impossible for the organizers Vinexposium to hold the event in Shanghai as originally planned. As a result, Vinexposium has launched a new digital platform Vinexposium.Connect which it claims will offer a “new range of content” available 24/7 worldwide.
International trade buyers as well as members of the wine and spirits industry are invited to join live online sessions, which will subsequently be available as replays free of charge. While the new scheme prioritises Chinese wine market professionsals, but aims to expand its audience via broad ranging content on the platform.
Events to watch out for include a session by the International Sommerlier Association featuring 2019’s World Best Sommelier Marc Almert along with three other internationally renowned colleagues.
There will also be a number of webinars covering a range of topical issues including an IWSR event hosted by Thomas Keeling, the IWSR’s research director, Asia Pacific, who will provide insights into understanding the Chinese market.
Vinexposium webinars will include the fallout from Covid 19 for the Chinese sector, looking at e-commerce, restructing distribution channels and emerging trends.
Meanwhile presentations to highlight the diversity of various regions will be held including a talk by Wines of Chile, whose leading export market for the past two years has been Chile, and Napa Valley where insights into Cabernet Sauvignon will be curated by China’s first Master of Wine Gus Zhu.
